I am not just trying to be politically correct when I say I am on the fence here. I see value in some of these artists' work and what they contribute to the dialogue.
I apologize for not citing properly, but a few days ago, I copied a phrase into my sketchbook that appeared in the comments of another blog as a definition of an ideal work of art:
"Brilliant idiosyncrasy of craft, paired with depth and transcendence of concept"
Kate Kretz attended The Sorbonne in Paris, earned her BFA from SUNY Binghamton, and her MFA from The University of Georgia. She was BFA Director and an Associate Professor of Art at FIU in Miami for ten years. She currently works in her studio and gives lectures and workshops at various universities.
